📄 How to Make Frozen Burgers in the Air Fryer

These step-by-step instructions are accompanied by detailed photos for enhanced clarity and guidance.

Step 1. Set the Temperature Setting on the Air Fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit if your air fryer needs to be preheated.

Note: Each air fryer cooks differently so always keep an eye on the food you cook. Our air fryer is a Cosori air fryer. The power output is 1800W. You may have to adjust the time and temperature if you have a Ninja Foodi air fryer or another brand that is a different size unit than ours. For the best results, keep checking the hamburger patties while they are in the air fryer cooking.

Step 2. Line the Basket with Parchment Paper

Place a sheet of parchment paper with holes in it (specifically made for air fryers) on the top of the air fryer basket. The holes are very important as it allows the air fryer unit to work properly.

Using parchment paper makes clean-up a lot easier, however, you don’t have to use it. If you don’t have parchment paper with holes in it, or you don’t want to use parchment paper, then brush vegetable oil or non-stick cooking spray on the basket.

Step 3. Put the Frozen Hamburgers on the Parchment Paper

Place four frozen burger patties in a single layer on top of the parchment paper, or however many you can fit on your air fryer basket. Do not overlap so that all of the areas around each frozen hamburger patty can get cooked.

Season only the top of the hamburger patties with gourmet burger seasoning or your favorite seasonings. We will season the other side of the burger patties when we flip them at the halfway point in the next step below.

Step 4. Cook Frozen Burgers in the Air Fryer

With a pair of heat-resistant oven mitts on, place the basket in the air fryer and cook the frozen patties for 20 to 23 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, flipping halfway through the cooking process. Use a pair of heat-resistant tongs when you flip the burgers so you don’t burn yourself.

After you flip the burger patties over, sprinkle seasoning on the other side of the patties.

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature which should be 160 degrees Fahrenheit when safe to eat.

Tip: Our cook time for the burgers was 23 minutes until well done. You may have to adjust the cooking time depending on the thickness of the burgers and whether they are thinner patties or thicker patties than ours. Adjusting the cooking time also depends on how you like your hamburger patties cooked. We like our burgers cooked until no pink is showing inside the hamburger patties.

Cook the hamburger patties for twenty to twenty-three minutes at three hundred and seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit. Internal temperature should reach one hundred and sixty degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 5. Prepare the Burger Toppings

While the frozen burger patties are still cooking, gather all of your favorite trimmings you would like to have on your air fryer burgers. We chose super soft potato hamburger buns, and then we will put sliced tomatoes, sharp cheddar cheese, lettuce, and sliced red onions on ours.

Step 6. Start Dressing Up the Hamburger Buns

When the air fryer frozen burgers are just about done cooking, start getting your buns ready. If you like warm burger buns, you can do that now whether it be toasting them in the oven or toaster. or just heating them up a bit in the microwave.

We put some mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato on our buns for now. The mayo is on the top part of the bun, while the lettuce and tomato are sitting on the bottom part of the bun. You can put mayonnaise on both the top and the bottom part of the bun if you prefer.

Step 7. Put the Cheese on the Burgers

After the burger patties are done, turn the air fryer off and take the basket out. Don’t forget to wear your oven mitts so you don’t burn yourself when removing the basket.

Put a slice of cheese on top of each burger. We have one family member who doesn’t want their cheese melted on the burger patty so we left one without the cheese.

We used slices of sharp cheddar cheese on ours, but you can use any kind of cheese you prefer.

Step 8. Put the Basket Back into the Air Fryer

After you have put the cheese over each hamburger patty, put the basket back into the air fryer and let it set until the cheese has melted about 1 to 2 minutes. The air fryer is still hot enough to melt the cheese even though it is turned off.

Step 9. Place the Hamburger Patties on the Buns

After the cheese has melted, put the cooked hamburger patties on top of the lettuce and tomato. We added some pickle relish to the other side of the bun on top of the mayonnaise. You can add any of your favorite condiments at this time such as yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, ketchup, or dill pickle chips if you prefer.

Step 10. Put Some Onions on the Burger

We did add a squirt of ketchup on top of the relish. And then we sliced up a red onion and put some on top of the relish, which is so good! Of course, if you don’t like onions, you can skip this step.

🌟 Recipe Variations

  • Add garlic powder, ground black pepper, or onion powder before or after you cooked the burger patties.
  • Make air fryer turkey burgers or veggie burgers instead of beef burgers.
  • Sprinkle a few red pepper flakes on the hamburger patties after taking them out of the air fryer, but not on the kiddo’s burgers. Red pepper flakes are spicy and hot but so good on hamburgers!
