Sugar Cookies with Frosting Recipe
These easy Sugar Cookies with Frosting are soft, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! This simple sugar cookie recipe uses basic ingredients and is topped with homemade frosting for the perfect finishing touch. They’re quick to make and perfect for holidays, parties, potlucks, or an easy family dessert.
Equipment
- Microwave-safe bowl (to melt butter)
- 2 Medium bowls (for wet and dry ingredients)
Ingredients
- 5½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 sticks unsalted butter example: 1 stick of butter equals 1/2 cup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Melt the butter in the microwave for about 50 to 60 seconds. May take less time depending on the power of your microwave.
- Transfer the melted butter into a medium-sized bowl, then add the sugar to the melted butter. Mix.
- Add the eggs to the butter and sugar. Mix.
- Add the milk and vanilla extract to the butter, sugar, and eggs. Mix.
- In a different bowl, add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix.
- Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients to make the cookie dough.
- Take the cookie dough out of the bowl and lay it on a lightly floured surface.
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin about 1/4 of an inch thick.
- Cut out cookie shapes.
- Spray non-stick cooking spray on a cookie sheet.
- Place 12 cookie shapes on the cookie sheet.
- Bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes until the top of the cookie is barely browned.
- After baking, let the cookies sit on the cookie sheet for about one minute.
- Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and let them sit for about a minute to cool.
- Repeat with the rest of the cookie dough.
