Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bottom Layer
Get your graham cracker pie shell ready to go.
Make the Middle Layer
Melt the butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Be sure to keep an eye on it while melting.
Mix melted butter together with the brown sugar in a large bowl.
Mix in the unsweetened cocoa powder and then gradually add the eggs. Mix thoroughly and then set aside for now.
Melt the chocolate chips your preferred way, or use the microwave. If using the microwave, melt for one minute on power level 6, then stir. Repeat for another minute on power level 6 and then stir again.
Add the milk and the melted chocolate chips to the brown sugar mixture we set aside earlier. Mix thoroughly.
Pour the mixture into the graham cracker crust.
Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes.
Refrigerate overnight.
Make the Top Layer
The next day, or when ready, make the homemade whipped cream.
In a medium bowl, add the powdered sugar to the whipping cream, then whip the cream until fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and blend it in with the whipped cream.
Spread the whipped cream over the top of the chilled Mississippi mud pie.
Sprinkle chocolate shavings, chocolate flakes, and chocolate chips over the top of the whipped cream.
Serve and keep refrigerated when not eating.
Notes
Mini marshmallows can be added to this Mississippi mud pie recipe in the chocolate filling before baking.
Sliced pecans can be sprinkled over the top of the whipped cream.
You can also use whichever pie shell you prefer for this recipe.
Use mini chocolate chips on top of the whipped cream instead of regular chocolate chips.
